In the past month we have added three great individuals to our team that we know will help us better meet the needs of our patients!
WELCOMING:
Greg Holland, Physician Assistant
My healthcare journey began as a search and rescue volunteer. I found assisting others and making a difference in the local community to be so rewarding that I obtained my EMT certification and later decided to leave my full-time job and become a respiratory therapist. While working in the ICU I became concerned about the amount of preventable illness that I witnessed on a daily basis and decided to become a physician assistant in the hope of helping people to improve their health and avoid unnecessary hospitalization.
During my healthcare journey I also became concerned about the health of myself and my wife. I began to read extensively about diet and health. I am thrilled to be joining Dr. Rigby and helping patients live happier and healthier lives.
Hi there! My name is Kelsey. As a Registered Dietitian, I love partnering with people to help them find their ideal wellness plan, so they can live well and enjoy all of life’s adventures. I live by the motto, “don’t believe you can’t ever do what you love because of your weight, pain, fatigue or some other symptom!” I believe in practicing what I teach, and so I have been following a ketogenic diet for nearly three years. During these past three years, I have experienced many health benefits including reduced to no seizures and autoimmune flare-ups, as well as improved memory, energy and mood.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and completed my dietetic internship with Wellness Workdays in Boston, Massachusetts. I have been a Registered Dietitian since 2017.
I currently live in Northern Utah with my husband and four young kids. We enjoy kayaking, hiking, and gardening. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting with new food and recipes that nourishes my mind and body and tastes good!
Natalie Coombs-Vaterlaus, Patient Mentor
Natalie's official job title is Patient Mentor, and she will be available to meet one-on-one with patients to help each person meet his or her goals as they work toward a healthier lifestyle. Think of her as your personal trainer that will help keep you accountable on your journey in the areas our providers are asking you to make changes.
Here's a note from Natalie:
Hello! I am very excited to be joining Dr. Rigby’s team as a patient mentor! I previously studied at Utah State University in Health Education and Promotion, where I developed a passion for helping individuals improve their overall physical, mental, and emotional wellness. My background also includes group fitness training, recreational therapy, and health and lifestyle coaching. As you work towards achieving your personal, healthier lifestyle changes, I intend to be an additional support system to you. Our sessions will be designed to help you get from where you are today to where you want to be, with guidance from me every step of the way. I will be available to always keep you on track with your best interests and agenda in mind. I look forward to working with you!
If you'd like to start working one-on-one with Natalie, please let your provider know during your next appointment, or call our office (801-397-6160) to let our team know.
And for those that are wondering, the cost to work with Natalie is only $25 (one-time fee) for patients that are actively being seen in our practice. (That's a steal of a deal for one-on-one accountability with someone who works directly with our providers.)
Just a friendly reminder that we have some great resources on our website (utahmedicalweightloss.com) for our patients. This includes lists of food items, articles, and books that Dr. Rigby recommends.
Podcast
A few of our providers have also a created a podcast with various metabolic health topics. They are on most podcast platforms. Find them by searching for the podcast name: Why Weight Elevate. Here’s the link to the podcast’s website: https://podcasts.bcast.fm/whyweightelevate
