In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, lifestyle adjustments have been necessary to prevent the spread of contagious disease and comply with federal and state regulations. And while we are spending more time at home, you might be wondering if you need to cancel or reschedule your upcoming appointment(s).

Fortunately, most medical weight loss patients are able to keep their appointments by using our new Telecare video chat system! More on how it works below.


What is Telecare?

Telecare lets you speak with your Medical Weight Loss provider over a live video chat using your computer's camera and microphone. Without stepping foot inside a clinic, you can still receive guidance from your provider and any needed prescription fills as you continue your weight loss journey. 


How do I use Telecare for my visit?

Starting a Telecare visit is easy. You will need:

  • Good internet connection: Please use Google Chrome, Safari, or Firefox as the web browser. Close out any open tabs or streaming to have the best reception possible. Do not use Internet Explorer.

  • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a microphone and camera. Most devices today have all of these.

  • If possible, a room with minimal outside noise and good light will help your call run smoothly.

 

How is a Telecare visit billed?

Think of a Telecare visit just like one inside our clinic. You’ll speak directly to one of our Medical Weight Loss providers and the appointment will be billed as a specialist visit. If you have not had a consultation with us yet, check with your insurance to inquire about coverage and Telecare visits.

 

Can I receive prescriptions following my call? 

During your Telecare visit, your provider can prescribe any needed medication and will send your prescription(s) to the pharmacy of your choice. They can also forward any supplemental information or recommendations to your email address after the visit.

 

NOTE: Please do not use Telecare solely for prescription refills. Refills can be handled using Ogden Clinic’s Patient Portal or by calling (801) 475-3000.
